My last week

Dear, Family
I can't believe how fast the time has flown this has been one of the Greatest Experiences of my life so far. Serving a mission has taught me so many skills and helped me to Grow I still have my weaknesses. I don't really know to what extent I've changed I just know I'm better because of it. The People I've been able to come to know and meet have bettered my life and taught me many life lessons. I'm truly Thankful for the designs of our God for allowing an 18 year old boy to come and Labor in the work. Not just for the salvation for others but most importantly for me. As i've pondered this I've really come to understand that the Lord could do his work in so many more effective ways. He could send well experienced and seasoned members to do his work. But he Lord Doesn't want that He want Us to go back Spiritually Stronger and more powerful leaders and, Followers. I Love this Work I know it's True. God the Father Loves Us. His Son is our Savior It's through the Power of the Atonement that we are made free from Spiritual Death and Physical Death. And By his Grace we can be made Perfect. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ really did appear to the Young Boy Joseph Smith and Called him to the work. To usher in the Dispensation of the fullness of time. The Book of Mormon is the Evidence of this work as we come to know through study and Prayer we can know the reality of this work. I know it's true. We are lead by a Prophet of God! As we heed to the Prophet we will not be the very elect who are deceived. I love this Gospel I'm grateful for the Cleansing power of repentance. I've been able to partake of it pure white fruits. It is so good. I love you all! I will see you next week Can't wait to Hug and see all of you.

                        Love,

I love you!

Dear, Family
This week has been good filled with it's own trials and difficulties. But some awesome things that have happened. Is one that our investigator Joshua just came back from New Zealand. We were able to go into his home and the first thing that he told us is that. He felt like he wasn't going to be able to make his date for September 3rd, but he told us that he has been thinking and pondering over the date for October 1st Thats awesome! Literally nobody ever set their own date well at least for the many experiences that I've had and have heard of. He is so ready for baptism. I just wish I could be here to see it. But its some of the best feelings in the world to know you have helped someone come closer to Christ. I know that God Really does love us. and that he really does "Prove" his saints. I'm grateful for the Trails and Challenges the places before us to help us grow. Oh how merciful the Lord is.

Angela and me

Week 3

Dear, Family
I don't really know what to tell you I feel like I just talk to you yesterday. Same old stuff has been happening just trying to find our heavenly Fathers children who will hear his voice. Not much else we did have the opportunity to move a family to Beudesert. So that was heaps of fun I love helping people to move. I just love Hard Work! Your Slaved me well Mom and Dad. Me and my companion don't have the best of unity but we are working on it. I did have the blessed opportunity to spend a few hours with my recent Convert Angela Smalls she came down with the Kids Adeien, Dillion, Mckenna It was awesome! we spent some time just playing with them on the playground. She came down to visit because I will miss her endowment by a week or so. It's been wonderful to have been such a big part of her life and conversion to the Gospel. I will leave you with my Testimony that I know that God lives. He sent his son Jesus Christ to satisfy the demands of Justice that we might inherit life eternal. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God given the Keys the open the final dispensation of the fullness of time. I know the Book of Mormon is true It teaches and Testifies of the relaity of God the Father and Jesus Christ and is the Evidence of the Restoration of the Gospel and one will gain a testimony by reading, Pondering, and Praying about the Book of Mormon. It is the Word of God. I know that we are literally lead by the Savior through his Prophets and Apostles. I love you! have a good week! and Patrick is coming today to basically say good bye it's going to be hard.
          Love,
              Elder S. Johnson

We were invited as a zone to this birthday party missionary activity thing anyway when we were there the family told us that we weren't going to do the spiritual activity that we were suppose to do. but they gave us food and cake and this little boy came up to me dipped his finger in the cream and ate it. I thought it was cute so I let him do it again. Then the 3 time he grabed this huge piece of Cake and Shoved it in his mouth me and Elder Primavera couldn't stop laughin

Time,Temple, and Teaching

Dear, Family
Hello another week has pasted I know I say it too much but time really does fly!!! It's Crazy at the same time I feel like it was just yesterday that certain events had happened. I don't even really know what to tell you it just feels like the days are a blur and it's crazy I wish I could just tell you everything that has happened and is going on. but even I can't remember all things and yes I do keep a journal. But every time I get on I can't remember. We were able to have a very good and powerful lesson with a less active member her name is Lois and she hasn't been to church in over 20 years and were went in and were pretty bold and loving with her. And we told her we were her to help he get back to church and to the temple so she could be sealed with her son. Towards the end of the lesson she expressed to us that she had prayed 2 days before asking God the help her get back on track and she knows that we were the answer to her prayer. It such a great feeling to be used as an instrument in the Lords hands. Just normal for the work apart from that. Was able to go to the temple such a great blessing was really good to receive instruction and to learn I love it so much. I was able to have an interview with my mission President for a temple recommend and I asked about an extension and he said yeah but when I talked to mission secretary she told me it would cost over $800 dollar to extend for just 3 week so I yeah.... I wont :( Be safe! have a wonderful week.

Dear, Family
This week has been really slow. I've felt really lost and just feel like i'm unable to get down the area I usually learn stuff pretty quick. But the way the place is layed out and the NAMES it make it so hard to remember. (and you already know that my memory is shoot) but I will get there. We did lots of driving this week. We went to an area just a little over an hour south of our flat. It is such beautiful country. We did have a lesson with a Part Member family who has a lot of Potential. His name is Joshua and he was on date earlier before and because of bad commuication between the Elder. He was unable to be baptized and that was really said to hear why, after that had happened he lost almost all motiviation to work back towards baptism, but he is willing to work back to now after 1 1/2 years. So we will begin to work with him. He came to church and have had a really good lesson with him. and we went with our Ward Mission Leader to do rescue visits for nearly 5 hours was really good. The Ward seem great! I know that as we strive to speak with our heavenly Father that he will hear our pleads. I know that it will be in his time. but he really does answer. I love you all so much have a wonderful week!
           Love,
              Elder S. Johnson
 P.s.
I'm gonna try and get an extension. Because my Recent convert Angela is preparing to receive her Endowment and I will miss it by a week if I don't get the extensions. So Hopefully I can get it.

P-day will be next thursday going to the Temple. LOVE YOU!!

week 6

Dear, Family
So Sorry about not emailing for ages we had temple P-day so we didn't have it till today. So that was awesome woke up at 3:30 am took the train down to the temple and got their at 7:30 am I'm pretty tired today. Yesterday I was sick with some symptoms of the flu was no good. My whole body was aching I felt like I got hit by a car or something was so bad. and The toilet got plenty of use I hate being stuck inside it's no good all you want to do is get out and work. It's so scary to think this is my last transfer on the mission. We find out if I leave, Stay, or get another golden. I say that because their are 29 new missionaries coming in super Exciting. and One of them is Sister Murray's Boyfriend. Also gave a 20 minute talk in church about how to recognize the Holy Ghost. But in way of missionary work not much out of the ordinary has happened we have been a struggling a bit we have been unable to find any new people to teach in the last 4 weeks. So that will be a major focus of ours. But we do have a date set with Jake, but he is really excited for baptism but I fear for lasting conversion. We still have 4 weeks left but were going to focus on helping him to receive conversion from the Holy Ghost. I love you!! I want you to know the church is true and time is short! This is the time appointed for us to prepare to meet God. My biggest fear is not having changed enough through the Atonement of Christ. It's progress and it's something we need to consistently work at. I love you all! have a wonderful Week!

Interviews

Dear, Family
This week has been a slow one again with not to much happening in the beginning of the week we took things a bit easy cause my comp wasn't feeling the best. but something that was a highlight is we were able to have interviews with our mission President. Pres. McSwain he is the man super powerful and spirit filled. Teaches from the Scriptures with Power. We had only planed for it to take about 2 1/2 hours but it took nearly 7 hours it was crazy. the first 3 hours were training and then he did interviews and he spent heaps of time with everyone else but me it seemed but it was super good we talked about making plans and goals for when I return home. Thats such a scary thought but I feel more at ease and less stressed. But I was able to talk to sister McSwain and she is such a nice lady. And guess what His name and Her name are Mark and Vonnie I told he that my Parents names are Mark and Bonnie. The funny thing is just 1 week ago her daughter just had twins and guess what Nick is having twins their was lots in common. Crazy like parents away from home act very similar to almost found your doppelgangers Mom and Dad. Haha but just yesterday we were able to have a lesson with our investigator Daniel and it was so good he accepted the invitation to be baptized for August 27th and also Jake our investigator accepted the invitation to be baptized on September 3rd Can you pray for them!! I love you all hope you have a wonderful day!!! and Know that God lives!!!!

20 Years old, WHAT?

Dear Family
I still feel like I'm 17 years old I probably still act like it. but time is just so quick it's not fair. This morning though my companion got ill he's got food poison. Patrick Flynn should be coming down today. We are going up to Buderim falls to have a lunch with him it should be good. I'm Excited I love this Man so much and I just don't know how to help him to make the ultimate show of commitment baptism. This week not much has happened it been really slow we have had some unplanned service activities which has taken up some of our time. and also we were in Brisbane for two day for Golden Orientation For Elder Leach. I got to work with the Logan Zone Leaders it was fun. Their area is like the Ghetto where all the stabbing happen. but As we were door knocking met some of the most humble people. Wasn't really scary, was a really good experience. We then went back and the trainers received some training and after it was so weird cause this was the first time I met President McSwain it was just so relaxed so weird. Missionaries were taking photos with him for like 20 min after the meeting. That would be a big no no with President Henderson. But He is brilliant bring a new vibe to the mission and is also very powerful with the scriptures. I wish I could stay longer and learn so much more from him. But on Sunday Night we had a lesson with a Less active member who was a Convert to the Church 3 years ago by the sister Missionaries. He has falling into a path of drugs. and Has been seeking help to get back on his feet. And he got in contact with us and when we went over the spirit directed the lesson and was just so very powerful! and also are now teaching his roommate Oliy which was super cool. It just felt so good to teach and to have some one act upon what you have taught and shared its one of the best feelings. I feel so bad for him been trying to help him. I know that god lives! He prepares people and that he wants to bless his children and that through what we do. We can become powerful tools in the hand of the Lord. I love you! Have a wonderful Week.

                     Elder S. Johnson
P.s. The Photo is of Me and Brother Smith
Also I've been trying to do a bit of family history and I've been trying to find some records for Dads side. For Our Great Great Great Grand Pa (John August Nilsson) If that is even his name. So if you could help with this search that would be fantastic. I've probably have spent a total of like 10 hours my whole mission to find him and I'm getting frustrated. and All I know is that they are from Sweden and thats it. Feel the Spirit of Elijah!

Crazy, Sad Week

Dear, Family
Boy this has been a humbling and weak of growth. Our investigator Les had given us a call on Monday afternoon just after we finished shopping and Emailing and we missed the call but he left a voicemail which. Caused me and my companions heart to skip a beat. He told us that he was going to kill himself. We just sat in silence unsure of what we should do to help him. We drove back to the flat and we just felt impressed that we should go to his home and see him. As we were on our way he called again and we continued to speak to him until we got to his come. We then just listened to him for 4 hours just trying to ensure him that their is hope and meaning to his life. We just felt so unsure of what to say or do but we had to go was a nervous for us to leave. He was so Drunk it was just really sad to see He just wasn't in the right mind set to even think properly. But the following morning he called us back to apologize and told us he was going to get some help. We had Trade offs this week with the Zone Leaders Elder Smith and I Just before going to the flat thought we should go to the Bus stop and talk to some people. We then met James he has scratches all over his neck and face when we started talking to him he also expressed that he was going to kill himself. We spoke to him gave him our number and he got on the bus. It's been a bit hard and it brakes my heart to see people feel so lost that they feel their is only one way out. I know that our Heavenly Father Loves us. Even when things get tough or challenging he is their. But he won't take away our agency. Draw near unto him and he will draw near unto you. I know that to be true no matter what the future my look like know that god won't leave you alone. I Love you All! I know that God Loves us we are his Children!

GOLDEN WEEK!

Dear Family
This week has been lot of fun I spent the first 3 days with the Zone leaders Elder Smith and Elder T. Johnson. They were a blast and we got to smash there area. But we also drove heaps on Wednesday when I picked up my companion we drove literally like all day. and The Nambor got white washed and Sisters were put in and Sister Gale First time in Australia got to drive Was super scary and funny I have never seen someone get honked at more then she did in my life. I felt so bad for her I just wanted to drive the car back for her, but it was a obstacle that she had to overcome. It was funny every turn she would turn on the windshield wipers. But they made it safe. I got my New Companion Elder Leach He is from Adelaide, Mt. Barker He Is my First Australian companion and is easy to get along with. He is a great missionary excited to do the work and he has a lot of the same weaknesses as me when I came out. It's great cause I can relate to him pretty well and help him to overcome and face many of those challenges. He has good memory which is something that I don't so He learns super quick. Their also as been alot of picking up in the Lords vineyard here. We had a miracle this Sunday We had only expected 2 of our investigators to come to church. But we had 10 non members come and 6 of which were our investigators I couldn't believe it the lord has helped us so much we set up appointments with many for a return appointment! The Lord is preparing his Area and we have been able to get in contact with many which have been hard to see. Blessing are coming. I believe it's because of the Faith of the Members we have been trying to see many of the members encouraging them to keep the commandment found in Alma 6:6 Which is to pray for Those you don't know God. Over the past 2 weeks things have just been picking up and I know it's because the Lord is starting to trust us and the members with these Elect souls. But we did have bummer to this Our investigators Les and Jana came to Church which was awesome. But he later gave us a call and expressed his desire to not join a church he feels he can't associate with an organization. Only if he truly understood what the role of the church is. If anything it accelerates our growth and brings us closer to god. But this man thinks very Highly of us and told us that we are great boys! It's hard to see him reject what we know will help him. But we have come to be good friends and in his phone call to me he said if you and your Wife ever need a place to stay just come and we will go and vacation and you can have the house to yourself for 3 day, 3 weeks, or even 3 months. This guy is super loving and it's just so hard to see him push away that which he needs. I know the Church is True It's the vehicle that we must follow in order to return back to our Heavenly Father. Because with in it are the saving ordinance of Salvation which must be preformed by the Priesthood! God Lives and Love each of us!

From Rockhampton

Golden!

Dear, Family
This week has been really good we have seen wonderful miracles. We are teaching this guy named Les who was in the military but due to some crazy experiences he has had he developed post traumatic stress disorder and left the military he has had a hard life no family. and has spent much of his life in trying to truly find god and has intensively investigated many different faiths. But has come the conclusion that we shouldn't put ourselves in an organization cause they restrict us. But he had us over for Lunch and he made some really good Cambodian food. But after we had a really good lesson and we invited him to church. during that night he called and was just thanking us for all we have done and told me I made the best decision to serve a mission and he thanked me for being me. He said I was a good Kid. And said " I would be the last person in the world to go to a Mormon church on a Sunday and you Got me" Was really cool If you just knew him to hear that was a miracle. He never did show up that Sunday. But to have that kind of progress was just wonderful. But this week We had transfers and I'm staying in my area and I'm getting a Golden or a "Greenie" I'm a bit excited and really nervous. But it' will be great!! The Church is True Christ lives. And Charity is the Greatest of all Gifts! I still need to grow in Charity. But I've just really have pondered it. If we can't learn to be kind do you think we will qualify for heaven. I Love you all have a wonderful Week!!!

Interviews

Dear, Family
This week has been very blessed. We had the wonderful opportunity to go down to Burpengary to have Zone Conference and Interviews. This was very powerful and has taught me so much. My testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith as grown so much I know that he is a prophet!!! Did you know that the book of Mormon in the total space of 60 day that the book of Mormon was translated. Thats about 10 pages a day! The evidence that prove that he is a prophet of God is just so great. I know that there are many falsehood spread about the prophet. but that this evidence that Moroni is a prophet He said that Good and evil would be said about him. But I know that he is good! I also had a very tender mercies from our Heavenly Father. I the morning of Interviews had the question come to mind that I've had for nearly 21 months. Why was I called to each of my Areas I just didn't know. I was thinking and getting frustrated. But as we went in for interviews. President Henderson and I knelt down he offered the prayer and in it he expressed his love and asked that I would be blessed. As we sat down he just kind of out of nowhere Said " You have been used on the mission like a weapon. To help the companions you have been with to be the best they can be.... You don't know the fruits of you labors but they are great" I was a bit taken back and just so grateful for Heavenly Father Answering my Question. But I have just been filled with clarity and understanding because of that. I know that God Answers our prayers We must develop the attribute of Patience and longsuffering. We must learn to accept the will of God and Continue in Faith! I know God lives and his love for us is pure and perfect. No matter what we have done he is our Father!!! He is Just but he is O so merciful!

Blessing From Heaven

Dear Family
Sorry don't have heaps of time this week. But this week was really good we have had 5 new investigators. Robin and Catherine, Estalita, Robert, and Daniel. This has been a much needed delayed blessing we will be unable to see 3 of for a few weeks time but it will be good to start to hopefully teach them. We have also set a baptismal date with Jake our investigator for July 2nd I do worry about his progress toward that date thought because he struggles with schizophrenia. But all of these blessing have come with the Storm. Which wasn't that bad but it make the wave go crazy got some video. was really cool!!! but not much has happened but I do know the lord blesses his children even if blessing are delayed. but with patience and continued faith the blessing will come!!! Keep faithful and all things will work for your good. I know that our heavenly father loves each and every single one of us. Also I don't think I got to tell you last week but I had the mission office call to talk to me about my return flight!!! I was just What?!?!  But my fight is for September 13th so don't get excited and don't think about it :D I love you all!!! have a blessed Week!

Charity!

Dear, Family
This Week has been a good one. Last P-Day we Played Basketball at a park just near the Beach. As we were playing we had 5 random people show up and start playing with us was heaps of fun was able to get a real good intense work out for about 4 hours straight!  A couple of weeks ago we were door knocking and we met this man his name is Les and he is really cool was super kind and was a bit drunk. But we were able to talk with him a bit about the gospel and we listened to him … a lot. But before we left he had insisted that we come back later next week and have dinner so we set up a time. And We had Dinner with him and his partner Jana this week. They made the best chicken I’ve had in a long time! And some awesome roasted Potatoes, pumpkin, and Sweet Potato. The Secret it was baked in Duck Fat Yummy. But as we were there he showed us all around his Flat and all the little projects he had Vortex Water Dispenser, BBQ Spa, and a Worm Farm. Was really cool! This guy the best way to describe him is to say he’s a Very Creative and Weird Spiritually Lost man. But was a wonderful Evening and he invited us back again so hopefully we will be able to begin the discussions with him. I’ve had some experiences with following promptings just little things like the spirit tell us to knock a certain street and finding a bunch of people who invite us back or seem they need the gospel. So super excited for these next couple of days to follow up with them and see some miracles.  I know that God loves all of us. I was able Teach Gospel Principles class this Sunday on Charity. Was really good for me Sometimes you don’t know what you’re going to do especially if it’s last minute notice that you’re going to teach. But I love the spirit which helps in times of weakness and prompts and strengthens. I just love to share as we follow the Promptings of the Spirit our Heavenly Father Teaches and reconfirms Powerful Truths. I know God Loves us! His vision is perfect and looks past all weakness and imperfection and sees us for our potential. He has the perfect ability to hate the Sin and to Love the Sinner.  As we can truly develop the type of vision our Heavenly Father Has we can truly learn to love as he does.

I MET AN APOSTLE!!!

This week has been really slow but also very busy if that makes any sense. Missionary work wise I felt like we didn't have a lot of time to work which is always frustrating. But on the up side this Friday we traveled down to Brisbane to a mission Conference with Neil L. Anderson. It' was so good took ages to have the whole mission shake his hand over 30 minutes Big Mission. When It came to my turn I looked at him in the eye which are like bluish green color and Said Elder Johnson Serving from Tooele, Ut he said nice to meet you. Was A Awesome Experience. But what I learn most about this whole Experience is that He is a normal man with a divine calling! I was listening to a talk that helps me to understand the calling of Prophets. There was a man who said that the Prophet was so kind to him. and a boy came up to him and said he has to he's the Prophet. Then the man replied is he Christlike because he's a Prophet, or is he a Prophet because he is so very Christlike. I know that as we emulate the life of the Savior in all that we do that our Heavenly Father can use us in Hastening his work here on the Earth. This Life is all about becoming. "Be ye Therefore Perfect Even as you Father in Heaven is Perfect" We are perfected Through Grace. I have come to know that becoming take time and The leaders of the Church have Lived their lives in such a way that they emulate the Savior. I just hope I can do the same I no where near where I need to be and never will be in this life. but I want to strive to be as "he is".

                      Love,
                          Elder S. Johnson
 P.s.
Got to see all of my old companions that haven't gone home was really good but I only got a pic with one of them was a bit sad I didn't think to do that before

 Elder Chhoeun, and Me

 Anthony, Elder Chhoeun, and Me
 Me

Last Skype of the week...WHAT?!?!

Dear, Family
The time just flies by I know I say that heaps but it does I just don't understand where the precious time has gone. You get so Caught up in the work that you don't even notice the time passes and by the time it gets dark you have this just confused feeling of I don't even know. But yeah. Anyways this week was fun it rained a lot and It's so much fun door knocking in the rain No one lets you it they look at you like a wet dog and either insult you or politely let you back in the rain. I love Hard Yakka! But this week we had Stake Conference and President Henderson spoke at it and he then during his talk told all the missionaries in the congregation to stand in the front of the stand in 15 seconds. So we quickly walked to the front and had about 800 people staring at us as we powerfully delivered "My Missionary Comission" But I was able to really reflect and ponder is week on things regarding my spiritual Growth. I've grown heaps from when I first came out I went from terrified, young, baby face Elder Johnson to a Scared less baby face and a bit older More grown up Elder Johnson. I'm Grateful for the power of the Atonement and what it has done in my own life. I Ponder back and have thought deeply I haven't been able to convert many to the Gospel but As I've helped others come closer to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ I've found myself come closer them. I Love the Gospel it's true I love it. Thanks for all you do I'll talk to you next week!! :)

Cold!

Dear, Family
This week went pretty good we had the Fireside this Sunday and it went really good I couldn't believe it we song like angels... Well I like to think but we had a lot of people say we did good. Our Mission President came was awesome. Been the first time in like 6 months so that was really nice and he will be attending our stake conference next week. I've felt like I'm bi polar this week though my Emotions just seem to be every where. Silly! We did some service this week cleaning up a palm tree pile that has been building up for the past 4 years so that was a huge job took us 4 hours but was heaps of fun I love service it's just the best nothing better then working hard and look at the result of you labor. And seeing the joy and blessing you are giving to others. The Ladies we did it for were for Brother Faux neighbors they are for Brazil. I'm grateful for the restored gospel and the Doctrines Which Guild and direct our lives and help us to understand who we truly are!

Dragon Fruit!

Dear, Family
This week not much has been happening I wish I had more to say but for the most part it been normal missionary work. Wake up, Work out, Study, Knock Doors, Get Yelled At, Visit people, Plan, Sleep. :D This weekend they have the Australia Nationals Surf Comp. and So their have been a lot of people in town and surfers everywhere like you know HEY DUDE, Long Blond Hair. So it's been kind of funny to see. But on the bright side my singing has improved slightly well I pray that is will because the 10 elders here are doing a musical Item at the missionary fireside It will be one of the last times our mission President speaks with a group like this. What was the lord thinking transferring me at a time like this. hahaha. All good. Were singing Nearer my God to Thee and it's not the hymn book version. but not much else is happening I will let you know when something Crazy happens. I love you all hope you have a wonderful week filled with the spirit! and I pray that you receive it.

Hello

Dear, Family
Sorry I don't have much time I could only get a 30 minute limit computer and it only gave me like 23 minutes so that is frustrating. But I'm doing well everything Is going good I just want to see and mass amount of Change is myself this Transfer so I'm just really focused on exact on all the rules. and It's been a fight cause my comp doesn't have the same mind set. But the reason I wasn't able to email is because it is temple P-day. So we have done heaps of traveling We woke up at 3:30 am and I'm just so tired been up for ages I want to pass out. But I'm good just keep fighting the sleep! I've had some interesting experience GQ-ING it's been good. But I didn't bring journal but I want you to know I love you and care for you all so much and I just want to let you know that I know the Gospel is True!!! and That the Restoration Really did and still is happening. I love you so much have a good week!
